Are you in the million dollar club?

During 2010, there were 212 suburbs across the country which recorded a median price of $1 million as at the end of last December. This figure only includes those suburbs which have recorded at least 10 sales during the calendar year. Of the 212 suburbs, some 56 percent are situated in the Sydney area.

Industry calls for a cut to stamp duty

With a new government in NSW after so many years of Labor domination, many real estate leaders are calling on the NSW Government to reduce excessive stamp duty fees. Brough Principal, Tim Simpson, believes the reduction in Stamp Duty would help to alleviate the concerning shortage of supply of affordable homes, both for occupation and for investment. He said, "Property taxes are making it more and more challenging for prospective home buyers - and for investors."

Rental market moves on in 2011

Following on from a strong year in 2010, the rental market can be best described as a very good one for investors. The first three months of 2011 has seen continued diminishing supply, and very strong demand. This is an ideal climate for astute property investors, with vacancy rates around an all time low.
